Hello, my name is Devina, and my goal is to raise awareness for drug addiction and homelessness. Drug addiction and homelessness have become a huge problem worldwide. I feed people experiencing homelessness I see on the streets and create a loving relationship with them. Nothing starts a pathway to healing like food that comes from love and a shoulder to lean on. Most conversations and time spent with my friends in the street are faith-based. Most of my friends are firm believers in Jesus Christ. Of course, the topic is not forced. No matter where their faith resides, I will never deny anyone food and still create a bond. I strongly believe nobody should live their life hungry. Everyone deserves some compassion and a little bit of help. I enjoy learning each one’s name, I love listening to their stories and anything else they feel comfortable telling me
A huge ongoing problem with local shelters is overcrowding and the need for more funds. Also, many times, most people do not feel comfortable searching for help or just don’t know where to find it. I’ve made it my duty to not only deliver a meal but also deliver helpful resources.
A typical day of me feeding the streets will start at about 9 am on my day off. I usually buy the specific ingredients I will need and some sort of drink, mostly juice and water for hydration. They receive the entrée with one juice and one water. I try to be in the area of El Paso, TX, around the hour of 11 am. I begin in the downtown central area and make my way down to the other side of El Paso until I hand out everything I have.
Sometimes my loved ones can help donate clothes, blankets, and toiletries.
I have been looking into traveling around and helping homeless from different states and cities.
